Merkur's Classic Heavy Duty double edge razor (typically called the HD) has the same basic shape as Merkur's Classic double edge, however the handle of the HD has a thicker gauge and a wider diameter. Consequently the HD has more heft, a characteristic some men prefer in a razor. Its non-adjustable head measures 1-5/8" long x 1" wide. The handle is 3" long x 7/16" diameter, and has a secure-grip incised cross-hatched design. Overall length of the Classic is 3-1/4", and it weighs approximately 2.7 ounces. The knob at the base of the handle of this two-piece razor with long-screw mounting is turned to unscrew the top plate for loading the blade.
