French green clay : Its origin

Sun-dried French Green Clay has been extracted from quarries in France by a specialist company for over 50 years. The chosen sites are pollution-free and selected for their high mineral content. Drying is carried out exclusively by the sun and the clay is produced without preservatives and inspected according to the meticulous standards of the International Standards Organization (I.S.O). This guarantees clay of the highest purity & quality.

What's in a name? Contrary to popular belief, not all French Green Clay comes from France. At one time the French quarries controlled the production of Green Clay and enjoyed unhampered success. The world market actually coined the term “French” Green Clay. After a surge in worldwide demand with its booming financial prospects, several other countries realized they had deposits very similar to that of some of the major French exporters. So, needless to say, many other players have come onto the field for a little bit of the French Green Clay action, and regardless of where it comes from, it is sold under the name of “French" Green Clay. Our French Green Clay is from France.

What about the color? Judging dry clay by color can sometimes be a bit misleading. The clay is mined from bedrock quarries in France, the color is dependant on seasons and what the environment brings. However, when water is added to the clay its true dark “camouflage” green color will be highlighted.
